A gift of reading changed my life
I give it back with the hope of changing others' life too.
Gifting is a small gesture we often choose to show appreciation and celebrate the special people in our lives. Birthdays, anniversaries, special holidays, achievements, or just a simple thank you, are some of the occasions we celebrate with the expression of a gift.
But why does such a small gesture so mind-boggling at times?
I went through quite a brainstorming last summer, when my best friend Ana's son, Alvin, was awarded a full 4 years, scholarship to Aviation college. I spent days wrapping my head around possible ideas of the perfect gift to celebrate him and his achievement.
But It was the thought of a life-changing experience I had earlier in life, that eventually solved the puzzle and has since changed the way I think about giving gifts to others too.
The best gifts don't always come wrapped or given to us on special occasions.
The saying, “Never judge a book by its cover” is a quality innately in me it seems since I was young. Otherwise my 12yrs.old self would not be drawn to a dusty pile of books tossed in the corner of the front porch of my neighbor's house that was undergoing renovation at the time.
